Permits and process
The City of San Diego reviewed the house in the AR-1-1 zone under its rules for environmentally sensitive lands, here steep hillsides and sensitive vegetation. A plan change for a post-tensioned slab was issued in July 2006, and the fire sprinkler permit was completed in January 2007.
The build
A stacked-stone tower rises three stories beside a stucco wing with wood shutters and recessed balconies, behind a gravel drive planted with olive trees and cypress.
